This gadget is quite simple to use. While it may not necessarily save time compared to the traditional method of boiling water and cooking hard-boiled eggs in a pot, it is fairly efficient. The recommendation is to microwave the eggs for 9 minutes, but since microwaves vary, you might need to adjust the time accordingly. I’ve found that 10 minutes and 15 seconds works best for me. There is a caution against cooking the eggs for more than 11 minutes. I was initially unsure about how easily the eggs would peel, but after cooking the eggs, letting them rest for two minutes, and cooling them in cold water, giving the device ten vigorous shakes breaks the shells quite well. After that, peeling the shells off is a breeze. While it’s not an essential item, it performs its function effectively and is a nice addition to the kitchen. One downside is that it only accommodates four eggs at a time; it would be great if it could handle six. Perhaps a larger version could be developed in the future. Although a bigger model shouldn’t be too unwieldy, having the capacity for two more eggs would be convenient. Overall, it offers a cleaner and more dependable way to make hard-boiled eggs, making it worth considering for its convenience.

This pod is very user-friendly. I’m puzzled by some reviewers who focus on the time it takes; boiling eggs in a pan takes just as long and requires constant attention. With this pod, I can set it up, start microwaving, and do other things without worrying about boiling water. I’ve used it multiple times, and as long as you follow the instructions—making sure to add the correct amount of water and ensuring the aluminum inserts are in place—the eggs come out perfectly without any explosions. I microwaved my large Egglands Best eggs for 9 minutes, and they turned out great.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is that the bottom insert can be a bit tricky to remove for cleaning. I saw a review claiming it couldn’t be removed, but it can; it’s just slightly difficult due to steam suction. Also, similar to stove-boiled eggs, be cautious of steam when opening the pod to rinse the eggs with cold water. The eggs peeled easily, and I store the extras in a Glad container with damp paper towels—just make sure to consume them within a week!

EGG EXPLOSION
If you attempt to microwave an egg in a regular container, it will explode. The Egg Pod prevents this by utilizing aluminum that blocks microwaves, allowing the eggs to cook through steam rather than microwave radiation. It includes a bottom aluminum insert where the eggs sit and a top aluminum insert that fits into the plastic cover. YOU MUST USE BOTH INSERTS! In every image of an exploded egg, the top insert is notably absent, which is why the explosion occurs. When used correctly, with both inserts assembled (clearly marked), your eggs will not explode.
COOK TIME
The Egg Pod is specifically designed for hard-boiled eggs. For soft-boiled eggs, the shake and peel function may not work well. Typically, 9 minutes is the ideal cooking time for 4 eggs in a standard microwave, but you can adjust in 30-second increments to achieve your preferred doneness. I have an 1100-watt microwave, and 8 minutes works perfectly for me.
COOLING & PEELING
After cooking, allow the eggs to cool for 2 minutes before peeling. This step is important, as cold water helps the egg contract, making the shell easier to remove. You can either run cold water for 2 minutes or add fresh water with ice cubes and wait. Don’t remove the water/ice before shaking, as it’s essential for the peeling process. Shake firmly up and down 10 times, and if the shells don’t come off easily, you probably didn’t shake hard enough.
I use my Egg Pod daily and absolutely love it. It’s quick and straightforward, with clear instructions to follow. Stick to the directions, and you’ll enjoy the same great results.

I saw this product advertised on TV and thought it would make my breakfast routine quicker and easier. Since I often make deviled eggs, I decided to give it a try and ordered one. Initially, it worked well for about five months, but then it started overcooking the eggs and wouldn’t stay intact. Although I can’t return it after a year, I feel it was reasonably priced, so I got my money’s worth for the time I used it. I won’t be reordering, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t work for someone else.

Usually, after shaking them for a couple of minutes under cold water, most of the shell comes off easily.
