   This unit is user-friendly, and you can control the hardness of the eggs by adjusting the amount of water used. I successfully made a cheese omelet and coddled eggs, and it can indeed accommodate 7 eggs as promised. I haven’t tried the 14-egg option. I’ve also used it to steam small quantities of broccoli and carrots, and while I haven’t tested it for steaming hotdogs, I believe it should perform well based on my experience with vegetables. The only downside I’ve encountered is the cleaning process. We have hard water, so I need to use vinegar to remove the residue after each use, which is similar to other cookware. Additionally, the omelet dish requires oil; without it, the eggs stick, and even a plastic scrub pad can scratch the surface. It’s best to use spray oil. I’m also in search of a stainless steel dish of the same size for cooking eggs and steaming veggies, which would enhance the product.

   I’m not the best cook. I can cook, but I dislike the time it takes for prep, the waiting while stirring or watching, and the cleanup afterward—it all eats into my day when I could be doing something productive. As a result, I often find myself snacking, with some healthy options like raw veggies and some not-so-healthy ones like potato chips. However, I want to highlight just how effortless this egg cooker is.

   I work from home, and in my workspace, we have a coffee/tea bar. This egg cooker is compact—smaller than a four-slice toaster—but it can boil up to seven eggs at once. I usually only make two for myself.

   When I first tried it, I made hard-boiled eggs for egg salad sandwiches. I thought I would need to set a timer, but this cooker uses steam and automatically times itself based on the amount of water you add (the instructions include measurements and a measuring cup). It shuts off automatically when all the water is gone. One thing to keep in mind is that you may need to experiment with the water levels for your preferred egg consistency. I live at 2,200 feet, so I find the recommended amounts don’t quite work for me, and I have to add a little extra. For example, the suggested amount for soft-boiled eggs leaves the whites somewhat runny.

   The next day, I tried poached eggs on toast, and it went smoothly. Just remember to add some butter, margarine, or cooking oil to the bottom of the poaching pan. The glossy plastic of the poacher and omelette bowls is great, but I forgot the butter, so the egg stuck a bit and wouldn’t just slide out. Fortunately, the leftover egg wiped out easily with a paper towel, making cleanup a breeze.

   This cooker is incredibly easy to use and quick. I can focus on my work until I hear the beep indicating it’s done. Cleanup involves washing a small pan that doesn’t require scrubbing (if I made poached eggs or an omelette) and a quick wipe-down of the cooker. This whole process takes less time than brewing my cup of tea in my one-cup tea maker, so I start my tea, do the cleanup, and by the time I’m done, my tea is ready—perfect timing!

   All the parts stack neatly inside the cooker, including the measuring cup, when not in use (just let it cool down first). This little appliance is absolutely worth the space it occupies, which is significant when considering kitchen gadgets (I’m looking at you, rice cooker, air fryer, and turkey pan that only get used twice a year).

   Once you determine the right timing for perfect hard-boiled eggs, this device performs exceptionally well. The stainless steel base that generates steam can be somewhat challenging to clean; even with distilled water, it tends to discolor and requires a bit of scrubbing. However, the rest of the unit fits easily in the top rack of the dishwasher. Making soft-boiled eggs or an omelet in the tray doesn’t yield the best results, as it tends to undercook them. But when it comes to hard-boiled eggs, this gadget delivers consistently at 15 minutes of cooking time, followed by a 10-minute cool-down in cold water. I’d rate it as not perfect, but it provides excellent value for achieving perfectly hard-boiled eggs every time.

    I venture where my backcountry vehicles can take me but enjoy regular meals instead of primitive camping. Over the years, I’ve grown less fond of roughing it and prefer modern conveniences that enhance remote living. Low-watt, battery-capable, and solar appliances allow me to enjoy my ideal lifestyle with minimal disruption to comfort or routine. Energy efficiency is key for me, and this little gadget fits the bill perfectly.

    While this might be an unconventional egg cooker review, this lightweight cooker is a low-watt powerhouse in the right hands. In terms of battery consumption, like most heating devices, it starts high and then drops significantly during the cooking cycle. For boiling eggs, it requires about 20 minutes on both AC and battery power. When closed, it peaks at 287 watts and averages between 48 to 96 watts. A fully charged, pure sine wave, 300-watt battery will consume about 36% during a 20-minute cycle, allowing for 2 to 3 full uses before depletion. If you’re simply looking for an efficient way to boil eggs, this appliance excels at that as well. I highly recommend it.
